Step back in time to the Gilded Age of the St Lawrence River. Bring your interest in History and your imagination aboard the boat. Let our experienced tour guides share the history as it was at the turn of the century.

Start this tour with free parking at the Chateau, after checking in at the Ticket Booth pick up your lunch selection then board the “Island Girl” and let the “History Begin.” Just imagine arriving by train to Clayton as we pass by the pavilion, a replica of the train station where all the rich and famous started their vacation in the 1000 Islands.

Hear about Charles Emery & Calumet Island Castle, also about famous Gilded Age Hotels and the Islands where they once stood. See the 1000 Islands Bridge, Thousand Island Park and visit Eel Bay the real heart of the Thousand islands. This tour will take you back to the gilded era as well as islands and passages not seen on any other tour.

As you enjoy lunch hear about the beginning of 1000 Thousand Islands Dressing and the connection to the famous shore dinners the fishing guides provide today. As we Cruise by Grindstone Island hear the stories and imagine living year round on an Island where being self-sufficient was a part of life, and where River Rat cheese first got its name. Tour by Rock Island as the tour guide shares the history of Rock Island Lighthouse, the infamous Lighthouse Keepers and the Beacon that guides the many freighters and ship along the St Lawrence Seaway.
